Te-Hina Paopao, who averaged 17.5 points and 9.2 rebounds as a junior last season for La Jolla Country Day, has made a commitment to play women’s basketball at Oregon.
A 5-foot-9 point guard, Paopao missed most of her first two high school seasons with injuries. She broke out last season, helping the Torreys to a 22-12 record while also averaging 4.0 assists and 2.4 steals a game.
Considered a five-star player by most college recruiting services, Paopao scored a career-high 32 points against powerhouse Stockton St. Mary’s and had 20 or more points in eight other games.
Oregon was 33-5 last season and 16-2 in Pac-12 play, claiming the conference title.
The Ducks advanced to the NCAA Final Four, losing 72-67 to Baylor in the semifinals.
Ranked as the No. 14 player in the nation, Paopao joins No. 7-ranked Angela Dugalic and five-star player Sydney Parrish in committing to Oregon.
Before choosing the Ducks, Paopao also considered Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, Cal, Oregon State, UCLA, USD and San Diego State.
