Here is the write-up from PrepVolleyball.com:
Nicole Prescott, 5-11 OH, La Jolla Country Day School (La Jolla, California) – Athletically, Prescott was a consistent and reliable two-year team co-captain and led the Torreys to a 23-7 record, ranked fifth in the San Diego Section and 34th in the state. “She was the glue to our team,” said coach Tina Kinkead. “She was our rock on serve-receive and defensively kept us in many games. Offensively she was our go-to outside hitter. She is creative and smart in getting us almost half of our team kills. No one is more deserving than Nikki to receive this prestigious award. She has excelled on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.” Prescott earned CIF’s Breitbard Certificate of Athletic Achievement, First Team All-Coastal League, and Second Team All-CIF. She finished her volleyball career with 990 kills (.230 efficiency), 820 digs, 162 aces, and averaged a 2.2 serve receive rating on 1388 attempts. Driven in the classroom, too, Prescott has taken almost every possible AP course at LJCDS and has attended and prospered at every STEM and Robotics competition she has entered. With a GPA of 5.0, 4.43 overall, and a 33 on the ACT, Prescott has been accepted to and will attend Harvard University in the fall with the intention of majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Prescott has won numerous accolades within the realm of technology throughout her high school career. She received the Rensselaer Medal, a Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Award which recognizes achievements of one STEM student in a Junior class and, as such, was awarded a $100,000 scholarship, contingent on matriculation. In 2019, Prescott won first place in the LJCDS Sumo Battle Bot Contest, Tennis Ball Launcher Contest, and Racing Robots Contest. She placed first with the Torrey Techies Robotics Team at the California Interleague Meet and earned the Control Award for the autonomous driving and programming of the robot at the Tech Challenge League Meet. She also developed Camo Flow – new and discrete packaging for feminine products to help conceal them, mask the smell, and provide an effective disposal method for used products. Prescott is a published co-author (Mother in Law: Work-Life Balance from the Children’s Perspective, Vandeplas Publishing, 2013), fluent in four languages, plays the flute in the LJCDS Music Department, and is involved in multiple community service outreach programs.
