Dear Loyal Torrey MS Basketball Fans,
Your Torreys played inspired basketball yesterday in earning a solid win over Warren Walker MS 54-22. After jumping out to a 17-0 lead early in the first half, the Torreys kept the pressure on and built a comfortable 34-8 halftime lead. Mason Mackin ’24 (14 pts) and Tommy Carney ’24 (9 pts) set the tone defensively getting steals and fastbreak layups with long outlet passes courtesy of James Wei ’24 (11 pts), Gianno Kassab ’24 (4 pts) and Reid Givens ’25 (6 pts). Isaac Herman ’25 (6 pts) and Brayden Aires ’24 continued to attack the Warren Walker defense in the second half and they were able to find open teammates and play pressure defense which lead to many Warren Walker turnovers. Will Stickney ’24, Luke Givens ’25 and Jack Levin ’25 provided plenty of tough rebounds and timely steals and each made plenty of hustle plays to help the team. Jaden Mangini ’24 (4 pts) returned to provide leadership and contribute rebounds, assist, timely scoring and played great overall defense to help your Torreys to victory. We will be off for winter break and return to action in 2020 with a home game with the always tough Bishop’s School, January, 8th for a 3:30 tipoff. While you’re on break stay up to date and follow all the action of the Men’s and Women’s Upper school basketball team on the Torrey App!! Happy Holiday’s!
